Solar Aid and SustainIQ partnership renewed for another year

Having worked with SolarAid since 2021, we are delighted to announce SustainIQ is renewing our partnership for another year! SolarAid is an organisation dedicated to bringing light to the lives of 590 million people in sub-Saharan Africa living without electricity.

Our Partnership ensures we are contributing to resolving climate injustice in the world by supporting those most vulnerable to the impacts, building upon our own social impact.

SustainIQ Co-Founder Liam McEvoy commented on the announcement “We are delighted to be supporting SolarAid for another year.”

“The work they do aligns with our commitment to sustainable practices and social impact. Our renewed partnership signifies a continued dedication to making a meaningful difference in the world.”

What is SolarAid?

SolarAid is an international charity committed to addressing poverty and climate change. Operating through its social enterprise, SunnyMoney, the organisation focuses on providing access to solar lights in Malawi and Zambia, contributing to the growth of renewable energy markets.

In many Sub-Saharan African regions, the absence of reliable electricity access forces individuals to rely on unsafe sources of light, such as kerosene lamps. SolarAid's initiative introduces solar lights, bringing transformative change to these communities. This not only improves the overall quality of life but also reduces the risks associated with traditional and hazardous lighting methods.

Our partnership

In line with the United Nations Sustainability Goals (UNSDGs), specifically SDG 7 which seeks to ensure universal access to affordable and clean energy, our partnership highlights our commitment to sustainable business practices beyond individual business goals.

Our support for SolarAid operates as a means of social offsetting for the carbon emissions resulting from our operations, including the running of our servers. Furthermore, by eliminating the use of kerosene lamps and paraffin candles. SolarAid not only enhance the well-being of individuals in sub-Saharan Africa but also play a vital role in reducing emissions, thereby further contributing to our offsetting goals.

Their efforts extend further by promoting the development of renewable infrastructure, facilitating a shift towards cleaner and more sustainable energy sources. This holistic approach significantly contributes to the reduction of carbon emissions, fostering a greener and more environmentally responsible future.

Welcoming the announcement, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Solar Aid, Lindsay Dixon has said “We really value our partnership with SustainIQ, their support ensures that SolarAid can continue its vital work in providing sustainable energy solutions to those in need and reach those otherwise left behind.”

“Together, we are not only bringing light to hundreds of lives but also contributing to the global goals of eliminating poverty and promoting clean energy. We look forward to another year of collaboration and shared success in creating a brighter and more sustainable future for all."

SustainIQ Co-Founder Maria Diffley commented, “We are incredibly happy about the ongoing partnership with SolarAid.”

“The collaboration goes beyond our business goals and contributes into meaningful change for those who need it. We are excited about the possibilities that the coming year holds and are proud to be making a positive difference alongside SolarAid."
