SolarAid and SustainIQ partnership shining light for those without this Christmas

At SustainIQ, we’re proud to be charity partners with SolarAid, who support the lives of 590 million people across sub-Saharan Africa that live without electricity.

Throughout the year, we work with our clients to shine a light on their sustainability & ESG performance data, working to tackle climate change and change the world, for good.

Our work with SolarAid then aims to build our own social impact, helping to tackle climate injustice in the world by supporting those most vulnerable to the impacts.

What is SolarAid?

SolarAid is an international charity founded in 2006 to combat poverty and climate change. Through their social enterprise SunnyMoney, SolarAid provide access to solar lights in Malawi and Zambia to help catalyse solar markets with renewable light.

Due to a lack of electricity, people living in sub-Saharan Africa are often forced to rely on non-conventional means of light through kerosene lamps or other dangerous toxic sources of light that can cause risk to life.

Solar lights truly change the lives of communities, and the work SolarAid are doing is helping to combat issues related to climate injustice.

Our partnership

Our partnership is rooted in our commitments to doing better business. Aligning with the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals, (UNSDGs), we’re committed to SDG7, ensuring that every individual has access to affordable and clean energy.

With every new client, we provide an agreed donation to SolarAid, and each Christmas we make a further donation ourselves to increase the impact and support SolarAid’s mission.

This year, our donations will amount to providing 86 solar lights, reaching 464 people, 339 of whom are currently relying on dangerous means of sourcing light. In total, this will save vulnerable homes $10.9k a year, with 387 people like John feeling safer at home with clean, safe light.
