RCSI CONNOLLY HOSPITAL
In 2022, Felix O’Hare were selected by the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland as the lead contractor in the construction of a €22 million project to build a new education and research centre at Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown.
The centre will be used to teach clinical skills to undergraduate medical students and to train physician associates, who are not fully qualified doctors but are medical professionals who work under the supervision of doctors. In addition, the development includes specialist facilities including a research centre for allergies, and a HSE laboratory.
The centre itself is ‘A’ rated for energy efficiency and was designed using the Energy Efficient Design approach to meet the highest standards in energy efficiency. Some of the key features are solar electricity generation on site, green roofs, the use of heat pumps, natural ventilation and the selection of only the most highly energy efficient building materials.
